URGENT COVID HELP - 90 families in Kalutara lockdown areas
- Project Start Date

- Project End Date

It has been a hard time for everyone, but most of us have the luxury to stay at home, work from home and still earn a living. But saying that, it is easy to forget the life of people who are on the other side of the spectrum.. people who work on day jobs and does not have a target salary in their bank account every night when they go to bed.
Pramila from Volunteer Sri Lanka who has been working with us closely during the past has brought to our attention to the lockdown in the kalutara area and its impact on the people since its start. But when the two weeks hit their mark, things were getting harder and harder for the day workers.
Thanks to our monthly donations we could reach out to help with this initiative 100% with LKR 255,000 for 90 families with an essential ration pack until the lockdown is ceased.
Volunteer Sri Lanka has got together with the gramasewaka in the area and required approvals to go ahead with the distribution to these families. The dedicated volunteers worked hard amidst the drizzle conditions carrying the packs to families and ensuring that they are kept outside in the vicinity and taking precautions of getting in contact or being part of the spreading of the virus. We are indeed grateful to Pramila and volunteer Sri Lanka for always taking the lead on these initiatives Hand in hand with raise Sri Lanka.
We should acknowledge that the People in this particular area in kalutara north area live in 1-2 perch land areas and therefore it’s much harder to be safe even if they stay in. 20+ families are quarantined in this area and it’s increasing. We are glad to have helped these families and children with the least we could do to keep them away from starvation.
Contributors of our dearest monthly members attached. You guys are the backbone of our existence! Thank you for making urgent needs like this possible!
We all know that this moderate ration pack is not going to hold on for long and there are so many requests that come by every day. So, we need more funds if the outbreak continues and therefore we have opened up another ongoing fundraiser for those who like to further help in areas like this. Please get together with us!
