DONATION (2)(3) COMPLETION: Apeksha Cancer Hospital, Maharagama
_________________________________________
Our second donation of Urgent chemotherapy, antibiotic, and Albumin worth over LKR 3.6 million (~USD 11,100) to Apeksha National Cancer Hospital, Maharagama, has now been completed!
This was a much-awaited donation as the essential chemotherapy medicine has been out of stock for weeks and on top of it, due to the holiday break, the donations have been slow to reach the hospital. Even in the best of circumstances, a disease like cancer puts patients through a lot of pain and stress, and uncertainty.. Now thanks to this donation, some of the patients will temporarily be relieved from the worry about the shortage of medicine for their treatments,
For the donation of chemotherapy medicine (LKR 1.2 million ~USD 3,700)
Dr. Vijith Gunasekera, Director - National Cancer Hospital was present and received the donations from Pramila Silva, a Raise Sri Lanka charity representative. Dr. Daminda Rajapakshe and Dr. Sanduni Perera of the Doctors' Association of Sri Lanka (standing on the far left in the photograph) contacted us and organized the smooth execution of this event, and we are definitely thankful to them for their efforts to help these patients in need.
For the donation of Antibiotics and Albumin (LKR 2.4 million ~USD 7,400)
Dr. Rukmal Gunathilake received the antibiotic and Albumin donations at the Apeksha hospital were handed over by our Raise Sri Lanka local committee member Neranjan Dissanayake. The initial requirements were shared with us by Prof. Guwani Liyanage.
All of these donations are possible because of your continuous donations to our fundraisers. Thanks for the trust and support. We have attached direct quotes, invoices from the supplier, hand-off photos, and a letter from the hospital accepting donation of chemotherapy medicine for your reference.
There are many hospital requests that we have received that medical have shortages - outside of Colombo, within Colombo, and even within Cancer hospital itself. We are doing our best to collect funds. If you can help please donate, share with your friends, corporate contacts, company donation matching programs etc.
