Little Ayannah and her dad Yohan's bday Fundraiser for the "Feed a Child" Program.
As part of this joint bday fundraiser in December, the father and daughter along with her friends and family managed to raise USD 3298 to sponsor all 150 children for nutritious food packs every 15 days for the month of December 2022. A total of USD 2745 was spent for the month of December and the remaining balance of USD 553 will be used for Jan 2023 round. (bills from Cargills and the transfer scripts are attached)
This program focuses on uplifting the conditions of malnourished children below the age of 5 years in Sri Lanka and was initiated by the college of Pediatricians in collaboration with the Family Health Bureau and Red Cross. Raise Sri Lanka has taken up sponsorship of 150 children in the areas of Bogowanthalawa, Maskeliya, and part of the Ambagamuwa MOH areas. The overall number of children who are facing Severe Acute Malnutrition in the Nuwaraeliya district itself is over 400 and unfortunately over the country, there are many more.
As part of this program, the children were given a nutritious meal as well as monthly statistics of weight and other growth statistics were captured by the clinics. The parents had a session where they are educated on the importance of continuing to find adequate nutrition for these malnourished children through homegrown plants and vegetables as a sustainable solution that can be adopted in the long run.
At the beginning of Feb 2023, we are expected to receive a report on the progress of their health statistics and we are hopeful that these contributions have made a positive impact on the children's health. We want to thank all of you who joined hands with Ayannah and Yohan, for this generous fundraiser towards a worthy cause and thank you Nadeesha Wijesinghe & Yohan Karu for a great initiative together with your children.
