BOOKLIST DONATION (1) - The children in Maradankadawala Thalahena village have their own set of issues that they cannot go to school.. Most of these children are at the poverty level, living off selling vegetables and other crops with their parents. And these areas are constantly faced with the human-elephant conflict. There are many of these children who have lost one or both their parents due to the situation.

Our volunteers in the Anuradhapura district have identified the need have set up a function in the village with required approvals to hand over the school equipment. These 32 handpicked kids are from families that are struggling to send them to school without help. And the children put on their best clothes for the function!

It was a wonderful event and the children and Raise Sri Lanka are indebtedly thankful for the donations from the contributors who especially came together to make this initiative a success. The smile on these children's faces is a small victory in itself.

Also special thanks to Thakshila Sewwandi for her help in coordinating this whole effort with her group of wonderful people in Anuradhapura during the pandemic and ensuring that the staff and most importantly the children take precautions and adhere to the social gathering protocols.
