Desks and chairs for Madawachchiya, gomarankadawala,pulikandikula

Children should have bare minimum facilities to pursuer their education. A desk and a chair to sit on is a “standard” however taken for granted by many.

The children in these rural areas celebrate days like these when they No longer has to flock around a single desk with their classmates to fight for space since student numbers increased year to year.. a day that a 13 year old can sit without bending and cramming their knees into a desk that is built for a 7 year old.. It’s definitely a good day for 169 students across 3 underdeveloped schools.

For year 2022/2023 we have focused our efforts in uplifting 10 very rural schools in Sri Lanka . As part of that effort considering the costs of repairs 3 schools were given priority to refurbish existing unused and abandoned school furniture that can be put for better use. After reviewing the quotations we allocated Rs.467,250 for this project and now 169 students now has a desk and chair each to continue their education.

A bit shout out to our partner group Hard Truths lead by Harshana Lakmal for a job well done. And for helping us with the ground level coordination for all the projects for these 10 schools and make this initiative a great success.
