Founders Note
This has been an exciting year end for us. Within 4 months of our registration, we are extremely happy of what we have achieved so far. We completed 20 initiatives helping more than 1000 people when they need the most. 60 monthly members and 95 seasonal contributors have helped us in our journey. We are proud to say that we got the 501 (C) 3 tax exempt status. As a team our hope is to raise as many who needs a little extra.
New School Supplies for the New Year 2021
Raise Sri Lanka in partnership with our volunteer partners were able to help over 100 students with new school supplies. All of these students were hand-picked, and are from lowincome families. This year especially is tough for parents in low-income families, COVID-19 has affected family income
- Anuradhapura – Rs.136020 ($752)
- Tissamaharama – Rs. 50000 ($274)
- Gampola – Rs. 85000 ($470) – On Going
Santa is in Town
During these festive seasons, we wanted to put a smile on faces of 45 children, who were longing for some hope during these difficult times. Their parents are trying day and night just to make sure that they can put one meal a day on the table. Buying what their child wants for Christmas and seeing that smile is every parent’s dream. Our team of volunteers were able to make this dream come true for these children whose family’s income is affected due to COVID. The total cost for this initiative was Rs. 80000 ($439.00)
Christmas Hampers
Christmas is the time of joy, eating a piece of mom’s Christmas cake recipe brings us tear of joy even now when we think about our childhood.
Our hope was to bring that same joy and smile for another human Our team of volunteers stepped up again to this challenge to distribute Christmas hampers for 12 families in need for some Christmas hope. These families were able to enjoy their Christmas with a little help from all of you.
This initiative was done in Kalutara North Area, Total cost was Rs. 50000 ($274)
Help Rashid’s brain surgery
We were able to help Rashid for his brain surgery. He was in need of finanicial assistance to buy 8 screws for his surgery. His mother is a widower and works as a housemaid to bring bread for her family of 3 children. Rashi’s operation was successful. A little help goes a long way. Total contribution was Rs. 34200 ($188)
