Happy birthday, Kumi Wickramanayake!

Kumi Wickramanayake created a fundraiser this year as well for her birthday. The funds were utilised to donate urgent life-saving medicines requested by the oncologists at the Cancer Treatment Unit of the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital.

She managed to raise USD 953 (Approx LKR 325k) to purchase medicine requested by Dr Jaliya Jayasekara (Consultant Clinical Oncology) and Dr Dileepa Mahaliyana (Surgeon Oncology) at Kurunegala Teaching Hospital.

The donation was acknowledged by Mr. Nimal Ekanayake (President, Wayamba Cancer Society), Mr. Sunil Edirisignhe (Secretary, Wayamba Cancer Society) and Dr Jaliya Jayasekara. The effort was coordinated by the volunteers of Raise Sri Lanka. We have attached proof of handover, including photos, invoice and acknowledgement letter for your reference.

The donation of drugs was very much appreciated by the doctors since there is still a shortage of essential cancer medicine at the hospital. The drugs were immediately distributed among patients who were having issues with sourcing medicine prescribed by doctors.

Hence, we wish to express our sincere gratitude to our friend Kumi for fundraising with Raise Sri Lanka this year for this meritorious cause. Also, we wish to thank all friends who got together to successfully complete this worthy cause.
