We have been silent for a few months but it doesn't mean we havn't been busy fulfilling our promises by successfully completing our Raise Sri Lanka projects as usual.. hundreds of children and families were helped and we will be updating many projects all in the next upcoming weeks.. stay with us.

There are 2 ways to get to Dunkeld Estate -

ONE : is by rowing a boat across Carsonry Reservoir or 6 km by foot from the Norwood Bus terminal or

TWO : in a lorry that they use to transport tea leaves...

The number of children in this school is close to 400... some children start walking to school at around 6 in the morning... they have to walk down the hill for about 5 kilometers to school... and they have to walk that distance in the evening..

And since Hatton gets a lot of rainfall, children have to walk wet for more than 4 hours and therefore one of the top ask was for raincoats (which we were able to provide with the donations from Amali Wijethunga and Niro) and school books and bags (which were donated by our generous monthly member and other Raise SL sponsors). The total project cost was 1.275 million rupees!!

Pramila Pulochana Silva and Volunteer Sri Lanka - Social Service & Charity Group sri lanka team was the center stone of this project. Its amazing thinking of the ways they transported all the items across land and water and their termination to help these children with all the essentials. It was inspiring to watch a set of young volunteers in Sri lanka spend their time and energy and time for this project.

RSL's generous donations provided raincoats, school bags to carry books during rain and also exercise books/ stationary and first aid which are essentials for these students from low-income families who attend the school. The parents of these students work in Tea Estates, and their incomes make it challenging for them to afford even basic necessities for their children and helping children like these ensure that we give them another chance to educate themselves.

Currently no any Document attached regarding to the Project
